Honoring historic offices
We had the special oportunity to be invited into Bletchley's well storied offices, to discuss refurbishment ahead of private tennancy. Our highly knowledgable and passionate client gave us a private tour of the site inlcuding private offices, which was invaluable in our understanding of the rooms past and their relationship with the people who served in them. We looked at archive photos to understand the offices significace and how staff used the spaces in the past. This set the tone for how we would approach a simple installation.
Our client required well made entry level furniture on a budget, but made to last and installed quickly without fuss using trade entrances, out of sight of public tours. We very quickly established the building had exceptional attention to detail in it's original planning and build, which set the tone. Our room surveys showed identical adjoining office rooms to be prescisley the same internal dimensions steels to steels and steels to walls when laser measured. When we say precise, we mean a +/- tolerance of 0mm. This remains the only time our site surveryor has experienced such accuracy in a building of this age.
We quickly establish a low cost, simple solution using CAD planning to fit the spaces perfectly.
We specified durable, uniform furniture that mirrored internal features. Desktops for example we best matched to corridor approach stairwell tops found within the hallways. All furniture being UK made within 2 hours of Bletchley. We used a bright seating colour to refelct the clients branding and lift the room, while respecting the rooms original layouts and use of space, allowing good verbal and non-verbal communication across desks between team staff. The end result was an enjoyable installation into a special space, and a happy client.
